Social Media is a relatively new concept when discussed in terms of how it can help our businesses. Most businesses believe they need to be using it - but are still unsure exactly why.

There are 3 main requirements that go into making your social media strategy a successful one.

Time - If you have no time then you cannot use social media.

Content - If you have nothing to say (content) then social media is a waste of time.

Engagement - If you are not willing to engage with people (remember it is people we are dealing with) then you are not being "social" and as such missing the whole point of social media.

Despite using online tools such as; Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, you are still being "social" with people. Remember though that even in "social" face to face meetings some people can be too much in your face.

It is about getting the right balance and giving people what they want and in some cases a wee bit of what they need.
