Twitter - what is the point?

We often hear from businesses that they don’t see the point of Tweeting that they are having a “cup of coffee in the train station”.

Is randomly informing your Twitter followers you are having a cup of coffee of any benefit to them ? Does it have a business purpose. Strangely you can argue for and against it and also put a business spin on it – BUT – the reality is most of us in business are not particularly interested in your Tweet on Twitter about having a coffee.

So what is the business benefit of Twitter then ? What can you do to help you gain business from Twitter ? There are many things you can do from creating lists to keep tabs on your competition, to finding information on potential clients.
